BMW Professional RDS Bluetooth Radio
The best sounding and rarest BMW radio of the 90’s
This software is currently in the final testing phase and the radio is not yet available.
It is being tested in everyday use in real vehicles to ensure OEM-level reliability and to eliminate any remaining issues before the release, which is planned within the next few months.
If you’re interested, feel free to contact me to join the waiting list and reserve a radio, as availability will be limited.
Originally installed in E31, E36 and Z3 models but this unit can also be easily retrofitted into the E24, E30, E32 and others.
For the music input the AM function is disabled, all other features continue to work as usual (FM, cassette and CD-Changer). To activate Bluetooth mode, simply press the AM button – the sound quality is crystal clear. The radio’s buttons control Bluetooth music playback and the display shows both music and caller information + screensavers.
This radio has CD-changer input, Dolby Sound for the cassette player, Becker’s best sound processing of that era and i-bus support which allows it to work with multi-function steering wheel and the E38 MID (for example, as a remote control for the rear seat passengers but this does not display Bluetooth mode texts and graphics).
Another unique feature is the double-tuner FM system – FM station abbreviations are displayed on the lower row, sorted by the signal strength. One tuner continuously scans for the strongest stations, while the second handles the station currently being listened to (this was standard on the E38 and many modern cars, but not on most other radios of the 90’s).
The radio comes with brand new front panel ensuring smooth and reliable volume control, no pixel errors and no worn buttons (unlike most other units that are for sale), standard hands-free microphone, preamp outputs and code card. BMW-specific OEM-style microphone housings and E24/E30 flush-mount radio brackets are also available — please check my other products.
The price is 1999€ + shipping
I guarantee that the radio works correctly upon arrival. As these are original BMW units from the 1990s, the 1-year warranty applies to the Bluetooth-related components.

Custom text(s) and image(s) for the Bluetooth mode. You can choose what is displayed on the screen:
1) WELCOME MESSAGE (shown only once every time Bluetooth mode is selected)
You can display your own custom texts on lines A (top) and/or line B (bottom) and/or image(s)/animations when the radio is switched to Bluetooth mode. All welcome elements (texts and images) can together be enabled or disabled in the settings menu:

2) MUSIC INFORMATION
The music title is displayed on line A (this can also be disabled). The artist name can be shown immediately after the title on line A, on the bottom line B, or also turned off separately.

3) CUSTOM TEXT AFTER MUSIC INFORMATION
You can again set your own texts on lines A and/or B that appears after the music information (track / artist) has been shown. These can be different than welcome texts. If you leave both lines empty, the display will only show the music and artist information if enabled (and/or screensaver, if enabled).

4) SCREENSAVERS
Screensaver images (if enabled) appear after the music information is displayed. You can choose from the existing examples below or request a custom design to match your exact car — model, wheels or other personal details. Different elements can also be combined (for example, a car silhouette from one image and text or effects from another). Previews will be sent for your approval before the radio is shipped.
You can choose multiple screensavers, but to keep the preparation time reasonable, please limit fully custom designs (custom text, new layouts or special requests) to only a few selections. Combining elements from the existing examples is quick and easy but more complex custom designs may take additional time and depending on the complexity, may also involve an extra fee.
Selected screensavers are saved as presets, allowing you to easily switch between them later from the menu:

You can also send your own designs (a great free online tool for this is: https://www.piskelapp.com/).
If you’re not sure whether your image will work, just send it — I’ll check and adjust it if needed.
Image requirements:
– 21 × 224 pixels
– PNG or BMP format (1-bit black & white)
